You stay in the 4-star hotel Azoris Royal Garden in the center of Ponta Delgada, a short walk from the city gates, the churches, and the marina, with daily breakfast and free parking. The package price depends on the accommodation selected. You can see the room options when you choose your dates in the booking calendar, and the Azores Getaways team can help with room upgrades on request.

You also get a welcome breakfast on arrival or a welcome drink (depending of your arrival time), a 10% discount on food and drinks at the hotel and a fado dinner on day 2. Other lunches and dinners are not included, which leaves you free to try local restaurants in Ponta Delgada and around the island. The Azores Getaways team can suggest places to eat.

Three reasons.

• Location. In downtown Ponta Delgada, about 250 m (820 ft) from the shops and a short walk from the Portas da Cidade, the marina and the historic streets, and about 4 km (2.5 mi) from João Paulo II Airport. With free parking at the hotel, you can leave the rental car there in the evening and walk to dinner, including the fado dinner on day 2.
• On-site amenities. An indoor pool and an outdoor pool, a Turkish bath, a sauna, a jacuzzi and a gym, plus a Japanese-style garden and KOI Restaurant, so after a day of driving around the island, evenings don't require going anywhere if you'd rather not.
• An Azorean hotel group. Azoris is a hotel group from the Azores that the Azores Getaways team works with regularly, and this package adds a welcome breakfast on arrival or a welcome drink, depending of your arrival time, and a 10% discount on food and drinks at the hotel.

On day 2, from 8 PM to 11 PM, you have dinner with live fado music in downtown Ponta Delgada, a short walk from the hotel. The menu has appetizers (cheeses, olives and tuna pâté with bread), bacalhau na telha and a house dessert. A regional-style steak or a vegetarian lasagna is available if you tell the Azores Getaways team in advance. Drinks are not included.

Yes. A rental car is included, with pick-up and drop-off at Ponta Delgada Airport. Most rental cars are manual; automatic cars are limited and should be requested in advance. Ride-sharing apps are not available in the Azores, but taxis are available on every island except Corvo. By car, Sete Cidades is about 30 minutes from Ponta Delgada and Furnas about 50 minutes.

Yes, parking at the hotel is free for your whole stay, so you can leave the car there and explore downtown Ponta Delgada on foot. If you have any questions about parking or the car, contact the Azores Getaways team before you travel.

Tours are not included, so you can explore at your own pace by car. Drive to the crater lakes of Sete Cidades and Lagoa do Fogo, the fumaroles of Furnas, the Gorreana Tea Plantation and the viewpoints of Nordeste. In Ponta Delgada, walk to the Portas da Cidade and the Igreja Matriz. The Azores Getaways team can book tours and whale watching before you travel.

The Azores are mild all year. In summer, days average 24°C to 26°C (75°F to 79°F), good for coastal walks and whale watching. Spring and autumn average 17°C to 21°C (63°F to 70°F), ideal for hiking. Winter stays mild at 14°C to 16°C (57°F to 61°F), with more rain. The weather can change quickly, so bring a light rain jacket in any season.

No. City taxes are not included and are paid directly at the hotel, at check-in or check-out. The amount depends on the town and the hotel, and the hotel reception can tell you the exact value.

The package price is based on two travelers sharing a room, so a single supplement applies for solo travelers. To see the solo price, change the number of guests from 2 to 1 in the booking calendar before selecting See Dates and Prices, or contact the Azores Getaways team.

Yes. The Azores Getaways team can add nights in Ponta Delgada or add another island, such as Terceira or Faial, with an inter-island flight. Changes depend on flight and hotel availability, and the price is updated before you confirm.

The Azores are part of Portugal, in the Schengen Area, and are a safe destination with low crime. U.S. and Canadian passport holders do not need a visa for stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period. Your passport should be valid for at least six months beyond your return date. ETIAS is not yet mandatory; when it starts, we will let you know in advance.

Starting November 3, 2026, all passengers flying to the United States, or connecting through U.S. territory, must hand in a signed declaration at check-in. This applies to U.S. citizens too. It confirms you have not been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 21 days before your flight. Download the form from the CDC website, fill it in, sign it and date it with your travel date. Passengers without a completed form may be denied boarding, so we recommend arriving at the airport with extra time. Requirements can change, so please check the CDC page before you travel.

The land portion is refundable up to 14 days before travel and non-refundable after that. Airfare is non-refundable once issued. A $75 per person administration fee applies to any cancellation, and a no-show loses all services. If a listed hotel is not available, a hotel of the same category is booked instead. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
