Contact the Azores Getaways team before booking to discuss departure options. Checked luggage is not always included and depends on the airline and fare type. The flight between Madeira and São Miguel is also included.

Yes. The price shown on this package page applies to shared group departures and is based on two travelers sharing a room. Contact our team directly to request a private group quote, and we will put together a tailored proposal for your group size, travel dates, and preferences.

The package includes hotels ranging from 4 to 5 stars in both Madeira and São Miguel Island. In Madeira, properties are primarily located in or around Funchal, offering convenient access to restaurants, shops, and the island’s main attractions. In São Miguel, hotels are generally located in or near Ponta Delgada, the island’s main city. Hotel styles range from modern ocean-view resorts to elegant city hotels and boutique accommodations. Yes. Portugal, including both the Azores and Madeira, is considered one of the safest destinations in Europe. The islands are known for their welcoming atmosphere, political stability, and low crime rates. Canadian and U.S. travelers do not currently require a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days, though passports should remain valid for at least six months after the return date.

Starting November 3, 2026, all passengers flying to the United States, or connecting through U.S. territory, must hand in a signed declaration at check-in. This applies to U.S. citizens too. It confirms you have not been in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 21 days before your flight. Download the form from the CDC website, fill it in, sign it and date it with your travel date. Passengers without a completed form may be denied boarding, so we recommend arriving at the airport with extra time. Requirements can change, so please check the CDC page before you travel.

Yes. Solo travelers are very welcome, though package pricing is based on two travelers sharing a room. A single supplement applies for guests traveling alone. You may check solo pricing directly during the booking process or contact the Azores Getaways team for assistance.

Both Madeira and São Miguel are wonderful year-round destinations thanks to their mild Atlantic climate. Spring and summer (April to September) offer the warmest temperatures, lush landscapes, and excellent conditions for hiking, whale watching, and sightseeing. Autumn and winter are quieter and still pleasant, particularly in Madeira, which enjoys very mild temperatures throughout the year.

Yes. The Azores Getaways team can help you extend your stay, add extra nights, upgrade hotels, or include additional experiences before or after the guided portion of the trip. Additional costs may apply. During your journey, support is available daily, and emergency contact information is provided in your travel documents for assistance while traveling.

This package includes 8 guided group experiences across Madeira and São Miguel Island:

• Welcome Dinner with folklore entertainment in Madeira
• Santana Full-Day Excursion
• Funchal City Tour
• Porto Moniz Full-Day Excursion
• Ponta Delgada City Tour
• Sete Cidades & Lagoa do Fogo Tour
• Furnas Tour with traditional Cozido lunch
• Whale & Dolphin Watching Experience

Many tours also include hotel pick-up and drop-off, and several include lunch.

All included experiences are light to moderate in difficulty and suitable for most travelers. Activities mainly involve short walks, city tours, and scenic viewpoints, with comfortable transportation provided between locations. There is no strenuous hiking required for the guided program. Optional free time days may include more active exploration, such as hiking trails or levada walks, depending on your preference and fitness level.

Group sizes vary depending on the experience and transportation used, ranging from small groups to larger groups of up to approximately 50 travelers in São Miguel, though groups are often smaller. In Madeira, group size depends on logistics, with transport arranged by van or coach for comfort. All experiences are led by expert local English-speaking guides or tour leaders, ensuring a smooth, informative, and well-organized experience throughout the trip.

We recommend comfortable walking shoes, light layers, and a waterproof jacket, as weather conditions in the Azores and Madeira can change quickly. For hot springs in São Miguel, bring a dark swimsuit, towel, and change of clothes. For free days, you may want activewear if you choose optional hikes or levada walks. A small day backpack, sunscreen, and reusable water bottle are also highly recommended.

Occasionally, tours may need to be adjusted due to weather conditions or operational reasons, especially activities such as whale watching. In these situations, the local team and tour operators will always do their best to reschedule the experience or offer the closest possible alternative whenever available.

Yes, most guided experiences include hotel pick-up and drop-off. The only exception is the Whale & Dolphin Watching Experience in São Miguel, where guests must make their own way to the meeting point at Portas do Mar Marina in Ponta Delgada.

No. Gratuities are not included and remain entirely optional. Tipping guides, drivers, and restaurant staff is appreciated for excellent service but is never mandatory.
